The Electric Toothbrush…

So, I was watching TV today, and I happened to notice that there was a commercial on advertising the Electric toothbrush. I’ve always found the idea of an electric toothbrush to be pointless… and slightly dangerous. I mean, I learned that electric plus water equaled dangerous… no? I guess things changed, but you still won’t get me to but an electric toothbrush in my mouth. I’m sure that they are safe, but I don’t want to take the chance… nope. However, I regress; the commercial proceeded to inform me that the electric toothbrush cut down on manual labor. Now, was there a huge problem with the physical act of brushing your teeth? I mean, I get it if it gave you a better clean, or it was easier to reach difficult places (I understand!) But really, was brushing teeth that strenuous? I mean the man of the commercial testing the manual tooth brush what just physically exhausted. I don’t think I’ve ever been that bothered by brushing my teeth. Maybe I’m not doing it right… *shrugs* I mean no offense to people that use electric toothbrushes, I’m just saying that I’m sure that you all have had other reasons for using it other than it was just too physically exhausting.

Another interesting toothbrush that I found to be strange is the kind that plays music in your head while you brush your teeth. I must admit that this idea is a bit creepy… I don’t care what you tell me, but I don’t want to brush my teeth knowing that vibrations of Britney Spears are passing in my head… no thank you. I mean, it was made to get little kids to enjoy brushing teeth, but still… it’s a bit strange. I guess I’m I bit weird about what goes into my mouth but at least I’m not the other way around…

Actually, the main reason for the electric toothbrush is to get a better clean. The brushes spin so you get double the cleaning action with less labor and the spinning circulates more stimulation to the gums which is vital for the prevention of gingivitis. On top of that it can significantly whiten teeth which is always a good thing. I agree with you about the musical toothbrushes though…..creepy.
